I am Danita Stevenson and this is my second year as a School Counselor. I am elated to have the opportunity to be of service to the scholars of Rod Paige Middle School. My goal is to provide a safe space for scholars to express themselves freely, while supporting and guiding students on the path to success.
As a school counselor, my focus is to identify barriers to success, social justice, advocacy, leadership, and most importantly our scholars, through a comprehensive counseling program. My role consists of meeting with scholars individually or in small groups. I help all scholars apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions, apply interpersonal skills, and plan for high school options. I am passionate about social-emotional learning, building empathy, understanding our young scholars, and allowing them to feel valued and heard.
I graduated from Jones College in 2016 with my Associate's degree. In 2018, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Studies with an emphasis in Family Relations from The University of Southern Mississippi. #SMTTT! In 2022, I received my Master's of Counseling Psychology, School Counseling from William Carey University. I am an active member of the American School Counseling Association (ASCA).
I am committed to the success of each and every student. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns, questions, or suggestions. Together we can work as a team to ensure success for each student.
